Apple IPhone 8 Review, Features and Specifications

Apple releases have no doubt always been met with a lot of hype and media attention. And each year the anticipation for a new device from Apple, especially an iPhone, only seems to increase. Rumors start arriving a few of months before the launch and the phone is leaked in almost all of its entirety a couple of days before the launch.
This year is no different. Leaks for the Apple’s next flagship smartphone, the iPhone 8, are all over the place and we have hand picked the most reliable and juiciest leaks for you.
Here’s what we know so far.

Shedding Bezels

Apple’s next successor is going to be its 10th generation iPhone, so there’s not doubt that it is going to be an important launch and folks at Apple are making sure that it is their best iPhone yet with no corners cut.
The iPhone 8 is rumored with a screen size of 5.8-inches. One of the first photos to ever leak of the upcoming iPhone 8 were sourced from a glass supplier in China. The photos show the front and back panel of the alleged iPhone 8.
The front glass revealed that the phone will have super thin bezels and just a bar on top that will house the front-facing camera, microphone and a speaker. At the back however is a weird looking camera module that was placed vertically. The vertical camera module actually makes sense Apple is pushing itself into AR and it works best only vertical cameras.
As with most other phones and even with older iPhones, multiple images or renders leaked showing the phone in different bodies but with the iPhone 8, only the leaks shown above have surfaced and no other design possibility has been seen.

Renders Based on Leaks

Soon after the panels of the iPhone 8 got leaked, we also started seeing renders based on those design leaks. Needless to say, with the almost bezelless display, the iPhone 8 looks gorgeous. We’ll just reserve our comments on how the back of the phone looks.
As you may have noticed, since it’s almost a bezelless display, there’s also no Touch ID along with the home button. It’s also not on the back. This raised speculations that the iPhone 8 will be the first iPhone ever to feature the fingerprint scanner under the glass.
Some other sources say that the iPhone 8 will have facial recognition, which is not that impressive as we have seen with other Android smartphones. Since Apple doesn’t like to compromise on quality, it’s nearly impossible for Apple to go for facial recognition. So it looks plausible that Apple will go with a fingerprint scanner/home button. As most rumors, this looked promising, until recently.

Touch ID Housed in The Power Button

A new rumor surfaced that the iPhone 8 will actually house the Touch ID in the new and longer power button instead of the display, which makes sense given the success rate of having a fingerprint scanner inside the display.
Some of the rumored specs of the iPhone 8 include:
  • 5.8-inch OLED display
  • Faster A11 processor
  • AR support
  • Wireless charging
  • Facial recognition

Top 5 Smartphone Manufacturing Companies of 2017

With 23.3% market share in Q1 2017,well above Apple’s 14.7% at second, Samsung keeps the iron throne of the smartphone world for itself.
After last year’s Note 7 (fireball edition) debacle, Samsung hit the lowest number for the year with only 18% of the market share. But thanks to the launch of the Galaxy S8 and S8+ discounted price of its ex-flagship duo, the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge, its market share significantly grew back to its old form.
Samsung’s mid tier offerings constituting of the Galaxy J series seems to have also contributed to the increased market share.

Rest of the Competitors

Apple

The second spot belongs to (and has belonged for quite a while) Apple. The ‘brave’ firm which recently took away the headphone jack doesn’t seem to be doing too well after their show of ‘courage’.
Their market share has dropped from last quarter’s 18.2% down to 14.7% in Q1 2017. It is also lower than Q1 2016 which saw 51.2 million sold units compared to this quarter’s 50.7 million.
Considering Apple releases their flagships between Q3 and Q4, the lack of any alternative choice from the company might also be a reason for the lower numbers. It would be interesting to see how their latest flagship line up shakes up these numbers.
Huawei
With a difference of 4.7%, Huawei comes in third, right at the heels of Apple. Compared to Q4 2016, the numbers have dropped from 10.5% to 10%.
Huawei’s 2017 flagship, the P10 was released just at the end of the quarter, so the slightly lower numbers can be attributed to this fact. Lets see how the numbers change once the Mate 10 is released.
Oppo

Throughout last year, Oppo has gradually gained market share in each quarter. Starting with 5.9% in Q1 2016 it ended with 7.3% in Q4 2016. The trend has continued in this year as well, with another increase of 0.2% this quarter, Oppo has a market share of 7.5% now.
With its latest device, the Oppo R11, the physical clone of the OnePlus 5, these numbers are only expected to go up.
Others
The top 4 are followed by Vivo, another Chinese brand which recently launched its smartphones in Pakistan. The company recently unveiled its selfie focusedX9s and X9s Plus which increase its market share further. Vivo currently holds 5.5% of the market share.
The rest of the companies, including LG, Xiaomi, Sony, Lenovo/Motorola, HTC etc. are summed up in the Others category which constitutes to about 39.0% of the market. All four of the afore-mentioned companies have reported better numbers during the past few months which means that the smartphone market is about to get even more competitive than before.

Smartphone OS Market Share

The smartphone OS world is owned by Android with a dominant 85.0% market share. It’s followed up by Apple’s iOS at with a mere 14.7%. Even further down the line is Microsoft’s Windows Mobile OS with just 0.01% of the market share roughly the same as all other small-time smartphone operating systems.
With the recent death of Windows Phone 8, it is no surprise that Microsoft is conceding its market share left and right. With a projected drop in shipments to a mere 1.1 million units, it’s safe to assume that the windows mobile division isn’t coming up anytime soon.

Apple is Again No.1 Most Profitable Company in the World

In Fortune magazine’s 63rd composition of the list of Fortune 500 companies, Apple has been declared for the second year, the most profitable company in the world. The rankings have been based on the recent financial year for each company.
Most profitable company position is once again seized by Apple with the profits worth $45,687.0 million.
Apple has been ranked third based upon the revenue generated that is, $215,639 million with only Walmart and Berkshire Hathaway ahead of it with the revenue of $485,873 million and $223,604 million respectively.
However, Apple has been ranked 9th in the list of 500 global ranking list of companies.
The business magazine explains Apple’s rise to power:
After more than a decade of solid growth fueled first by the iPod music player and then by the even more popular iPhone, Apple finally appeared to hit a wall, with lackluster sales “relatively speaking” for other products such as the iPad and Apple Watch and a heavy reliance on upgraded phone models.
But the most profitable publicly-traded company in the world is investing heavily in software and its efforts in new areas of opportunity, including automobiles, remain in development (and under wraps).
According to Fortune, Apple also stands first in the most admired list of companies.
J.P Morgan Chase reaps profits worth $24,733 million, becoming the second most profitable company of the world. However, it sits at the 21st ranking when you take into account its revenues.
Berkshire Hathaway stands at number three with its profits worth $24,074 million. Walmart is far behind, standing at number 11, with profits worth $13,643 million.

Pakistan Helped Us To Get Rid Of ISIS Says Iraqi Envoy

Pakistan was among a number of countries that supported Iraq in fighting the IS, said Ambassador of Iraq Ali Yasin Muhammad Karim at a press conference at the embassy. The presser was held to brief Pakistani media about the eviction of the IS from Mosul.
Pakistan’s contribution to the fight against the IS in Iraq has never been mentioned earlier either by Pakistani officials or Iraqis.
Ancient Assyrian town Mosul, which is Iraq’s second largest city and was used by the IS during years of occupation as the seat of its proclaimed caliphate, was freed after a gruelling nine-month-long military campaign by Iraqi security forces that was backed by several countries.
Talking about Pakistan’s help, the ambassador said Iraq, besides getting intelligence on terrorists, also received arms and ammunition and military medical assistance from the country. He recalled some of the Iraqi pilots, who took part in action against the IS, had been trained in Pakistan.
The ambassador said the continuing intelligence cooperation between Iraq and Pakistan could help the latter deal with the expanding footprint of the IS in the region.
Underscoring the IS threat, he said, the outfit was the most dangerous terrorist group and likened its threat to “time bombs” and “booby traps”.
“We share the same enemy,” Mr Karim said.
While responding to a question, the envoy played down involvement of Pakistanis with IS activities in Iraq, saying that “the bad guys” represented a very small proportion of the population of Pakistan. People of over 100 nationalities, he added, were part of IS ranks.
The people of Pakistan were generally very supportive of Iraq in its war against the IS, he remarked.
He praised Pakistan’s policy of neutrality towards the Middle East.
After Mosul, Ambassador Karim said, Iraq was about to make a final push against the IS from its territory.
Mosul’s liberation has, however, come at a huge cost.
The city after remaining under the IS occupation for three years during the fight for its liberation is in complete ruins and almost a million of its population has been displaced. The same is the case with other areas that Iraq has succeeded in liberating from the IS. Reports from Mosul warn of an emerging humanitarian crisis.
The Iraqi ambassador called for support for reconstruction and restoration of services in the cities devastated by the war.
“We need help for rebuilding infrastructure, which is the next important task,” he said.

German President Angela Merkel votes against same-sex marriage law in Germany || Merkel thinks marriage is a sacred bond between men and woman,

German President Angela Merkel votes against same-sex marriage law in Germany, Merkel thinks marriage is a sacred bond between men and woman, she is right.

Gay people are Naturally, socially, and medically failed it spreads diseases, Gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men are 17 times more likely to get anal cancer than heterosexual men. Men who are HIV-positive are even more likely than those who do not have HIV to get anal cancer. Three reasons gay guys are more likely to get HIV. 1. Gay is 18 times more likely to contract HIV through unprotected anal sex compared to unprotected vaginal sex. 2. A recent Auckland study, 1 in 15 gay and bi guys were found to have HIV. you’re more likely to meet someone who has HIV. 3. The reality is that there are less gay and bi guys than there are straight men and women.
So when you’re meeting a guy for casual sex, the pool of people you have to choose from is smaller. This makes gay and bi guys much more closely connected, sexually, than the rest of the population. It also allows HIV and other STIs to spread quickly among us.

WhatsApp May Be Spying Your Personal Data

WhatsApp is at the forefront of messaging apps these days. It does boast over a billion users after all.
Now with those billion users also come a billion different people to hack into.

Spring a Leak?

However, certain scenarios can’t be ruled out. What if WhatsApp itself leaks valuable personal information, despite the encryption measures in place?
Turns out that the app did indeed leak your data in a previous version of WhatsApp (back in June). YouTube user Colin Hardy discovered the issue:
To simplify the issue for everyone, Whatsapp can potentially leak data, with the problem laying with web previews. This is when you type in a website in your WhatsApp conversation and a preview (snippet) shows up above your message as you type. Most users love that and it’s a useful feature as well.

How WhatsApp Leaks Your Data:

As you’re typing, WhatsApp will send queries through your IP address directly to the website.
Lets say you’re typing in YouTube.com. WhatsApp will send a request directly through your IP address (the request is traceable) to the website in question (YouTube in this case).
Despite being end-to-end encrypted, WhatsApp will leak your IP address into the wild.
So if someone malicious seems to be watching your activity, they can directly trace your IP through WhatsApp’s query.

How Twitter Avoids This Problem:

Normally requests are sent through the service’s own servers. Twitter, for example, sends website queries through its own server instead of directly using your IP address. The link itself is sent in the form of plain text to the server which then requests for a preview using its own IP instead of using yours.
Fortunately WhatsApp recently got updated so they may have fixed the issue. We’re currently testing to see if the problem still persists. Until then, it is prudent to not share links until WhatsApp officially clarifies its stance on this security issue.

Engineers are to Develop Phone with No Battery. Here’s How?

The future is here. We finally have a phone which works without a battery. Unlike traditional phones, this phone will never die on you when you need it the most (at least when a commercial version is available). It sounded like fiction a few years ago but now a team of researchers at the University of Washington has succeeded in building one.

Why Do Cell Phone Batteries Drain So Fast?

When you talk on call, your voice generates sound waves. These waves contain the information in an analog form which the microphone of the phone converts into digital signals. On the receiving end, these digital signals are then again converted to analog signals so that the receiving person can then listen to your voice. This conversion of analog to digital and vice versa takes up a lot of power.
Another reason because of which battery is drained quickly in the smartphones is that it is used for many operations other than calling and receiving calls. Even if all these operations are removed, the phone still needs a huge battery capacity for to make phone calls.

How Does This New Phone Work?

This phone makes the digital to analog and vice versa conversions by using the analog radio signals which are emitted by a custom-designed base station. The message on the receiving end is heard when a pattern of radio signals is picked up on the receiving end by the antenna and this pattern is then converted to sound waves by the speakers.
When sending a message, the user’s voice causes vibrations which are used by the antenna to modify the radio signal emitted by the base station. The base-station then picks up the changes in the signal and sends it to the person on the receiving end.
All the major work is done by the base station, which according to the researchers, is very easy to integrate into the cellular networks.
Even with all these features the phone still needs a 3.5-microwatt power source. Their team of engineers devised two ways of generating energy without the use of a battery. The power can either be drawn from the radio signals in the base station or from a grain-of-rice-sized solar cell on the phone’s circuit board.
At this point, it is a prototype which works by calling on Skype and uses a capacitive keyboard. It can switch between talking and listening modes by pressing a button like in walkie talkies.
A few years ago no one would have believed that we’d ever get a device without battery but now with the first ever wireless charging notebook and now this battery less phone, seems like the future is wireless.

Good-Bye Gangnam Style And Now Here is the New King of YouTube Wiz Khalifa

You all might remember the famous song by PSY titled Gangnam Style which was released back in 2012. Not only did it gain instant popularity but it gained the title of the most viewed music video, having 2.8 billion views!
However, it has now lost its title to another video we all might be a bit more familiar with. Wiz Khalifa’s See you Again has gained an impressive 2.9 billion views, effectively overtaking Gangnam Style!
See You Again is a tribute to the late Paul Walker who met an untimely death in a car accident in 2013. He was already working on the upcoming Furious 7 at the time. The music video of See You Again was released in April 2015, same as that of the Furious 7.
The music video itself features several Fast and Furious scenes from the very first movie up until 2015’s Furious 7.
Both Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth also shared their heartfelt gratitude on achieving such an iconic moment.
I’m super excited and grateful to everyone who supported the song and video on YouTube, and happy to inspire and impact so many lives – Wiz Khalifa
